INFANTS - 6 WEEKS / 18 MONTHS

In the infant room, our staff provides warm, loving attention to each child, meeting their individual needs both physically and emotionally.

At Little Hands Childcare, Our staff is committed to helping your child grow and develop in the early stages of their life -

  • The focus of this room is to create developmentally appropriate activites to help your child safely grow.

  • Staff focuses on tummy time, motor skills, physical activities, story time and daily music time, as well as plenty of interactive play with other children in the room.

TODDLERS - 18 MONTHS / 3 YEARS

Our Toddler curriculum is built on the understanding that young children can, and should, actively explore the world around them while also learning about structure and routines to give them a framework to stay within. We also provide support with potty training as you start to transition away from diapers at home.

The various developmentally appropriate activities throughout the day include -

  • Circle Time each morning with an ever-changing rotation of age-appropriate songs, stories, colors, letters, numbers, shape recognition, and activity themes each week.

  • Group movement activities and free play.

  • Playground time and walks on the Rail Trail in our double and quad strollers.

PRESCHOOL - 3 YEARS / 5 YEARS

Our preschool curriculum is designed to help your child grow academically and socially. While interacting with friends and learning new concepts, your child will learn all the necessary skills to prepare for Kindergarten. We have two rooms for our preschool program to split the children by age and provide more one-on-one instruction with our teachers. The preschool program is designed to offer a multitude of learning opportunities through structured and free play both indoors and outside of the classroom.

Throughout the day, your child will work on skills including -

  • Fine and gross motor skills

  • Early Math Skills such as number identification, simple addition and subtraction, size order, and measurement

  • Literacy Development such as letter identification, letter sound relationships, and letter formation for early writing practice

  • Critical Thinking / Problem Solving Skills such as making predictions during science experiments and learning how to resolve challenging situations

AFTER SCHOOL - 5 YEARS / 12 YEARS

At Little Hands, your child is cared for, entertained, and safe while you finish your work day. We are glad to have a New Paltz School District bus stop (pick up and drop off) at the front door of our building so children can use Little Hands as their home base during the school week before and after school!  During before and after school care, your child will enjoy playing with friends and benefiting from homework help.

During the summer, this program is still available and includes field trips and activities such as -

  • Miniature Golf

  • Swimming at Moriello Pool

  • Ulster County Fair attendance

  • Walks on the rail trail
